Il mito di Robinson Crusoe ha un presupposto coloniale.Siamo abituati a raffigurarci Crusoe sull’isola, solo, che si interroga su se stesso e su Dio mentre piega la natura all’utile attraverso la disciplina del lavoro. Siamo soliti pensare che solamente dopo aver stabilito il proprio regno e la propria identità, Crusoe incontri e sottometta l’alterità di Venerdì, rendendolo un docile servo. Ricorriamo spesso a queste visioni isolane di Robinson per esemplificare l’immaginario borghese moderno: l’autoanalisi, l’etica del lavoro, l’oggettivazione della natura come risorsa, la sottomissione dell’Altro.
