Focus and Scope

Antropologia, an open-access biannual journal aims to be an area of discussion on crucial themes and subjects for contemporary anthropology. Particularly welcome are innovative proposals both in theoretical positioning and in the choices of style and contents, which allow  progress of the general reflection and specific thematic knowledge, of the area and of method.

Authors are asked for freedom of thought, clarity of references and methodological rigour in the use and clarification of sources,  whether ethnographic or historical- bibliographical.

In view of the ample diffusion allowed by open- access, attention will be given to contributions which defy the limits and the definition of the discipline and elaborate critical instruments for the comprehension of the social that can go beyond the confines of the academic community.

Antropologia in an international journal by its intentions and editorial decisions. Articles can be in English, Italian or another language if deemed opportune and the authors are from different areas and experiences.

Two issues a year are published, in March and in October with a tendency to alternating thematic issues and Special Focus issues.

Peer Review Process

Every article, whether a spontaneous contribution or in a monographic issue with guest editors, will be examined, in the first place, by the editorial board. Then, if it has been approved without comments or after the author has made any modifications requested, it will be subjected to a double blind review (both the author and the reviewer are anonymous). It will then be returned to the author and to the guest editors and again subjected to examination by the editorial board. The editorial board reserves the right to deem unsatisfactory the modifications and not to publish individual articles or whole issues. However, the review process is considered a source of debate and scientific growth and not a court of judgement.

Open Access Policy

Antropologia offers free online access to its contents in line with policies that support the global circulation of ideas and research. It's a diamond Open Access Journal. No APC are charged.

Journal History

The Annuario di Antropologia  was founded by the publisher Meltemi in 2001 as a collection of essays on the individual themes of contemporary trends from an anthropological point of view. In this capacity, the publication, edited by Ugo Fabietti and with the benefit of an Editorial Committee mainly made up of researchers and lecturers from the former Department of Epistemology and Hermeneutics of  Education of the University of Milano-Bicocca, allowed the regular and continuous publication of thematic collections edited by Italian scholars but with a wealth of international contributions. With the transfer of the collection to a new publisher, Ledizioni (Milan), the proven regularity of the publications of the volumes made a change of status natural and the Annuario has become a scientific journal to all effects.
