The essay addresses the topic of chronic diseases, with reference to Switzerland. Cronic diseases management has favored an expansion of the biomedical paradigm. The essay shows that a hybrid interpretation of chronic disease, which also considers the cultural models conveyed by the social networks in which the patient is embedded, and the experiential models linked to his or her own history, is more effective because it is closer to his or her point of view.
