Abstract

If humans have always fled and sought refuge, only for the past few decades have “refugees” existed. Never before have refugees in fact encountered and clashed with the relevance, the density of the nation, as well as the pervasiveness of an international community with its multiplicity of actors and organizational cultures of assistance, as in fleeing their lands. This Introduction presents the general themes and contributions of this monographic issue, in which the topic of contemporary refugees is explored from ethnographic perspectives
