Abstract

In the Awdal region, conflict and population movements have been among the main factors shaping the social landscape in the region, as have external interventions that seek to remedy these crises. It is in this “dense” context that the case of the Darwanaje refugee camp is situated. The case presented in this article analyzes these transformations, as well as the role the camp played in the social, political and economic dynamics of the region throughout the 1990s
