The article introduces the collection by highlighting the importance of an interdisciplinary approach to fully understand the multifaceted phenomenon of violence. Through the proposed articles, this issue investigates structural, communal and symbolic violence, especially in the contexts of social marginalization in American cities and postcolonial Africa. It is emphasized that violence is not an exceptional event but an integral element of modern social and political dynamics, requiring in-depth reflection on the historical and social mechanisms that generate and perpetuate it.
