Abstract

This article will consider the work of two contemporary Cameroonian artists – Malam, who lives in Paris, and Hervé Yamguen, who lives in Douala – who explore the ephemeral as a means of addressing complex political issues. I will show that the work of both these artists presents itself as a clear rejection of preconceived Euro-American but also African ideas about Africa.
