Abstract

The text analyses Chagas' disease in Argentina not only from a medical but also from a socio-anthropological perspective, focusing on the life of Fernanda, an immigrant living in poverty. The author emphasises the institutional responsibilities in the treatment of the disease and the difficulties related to health policies and lack of resources. The text explores the complex social, economic and cultural dynamics, including discrimination and stigmatisation related to poverty and geographical origin, that affect the lives of migrants. Fernanda's case illustrates the intertwining of individual experiences and current debates on public health, migration and state policy.
