Leaf, partendo da una prospettiva antropologica, si occupa delle idee, organizzazioni e tratti costitutivi delle maggiori tradizioni religioso filosofiche orientali. A tal fine ne delinea la storia e il rapporto con le culture e le società locali e analizza in modo critico i testi fondativi di ciascuna.
