Abstract

Despite the strong health, social, and economic impact of home injuries in the general population, currently, the home injuries rate is difficult to estimate, especially at the local level. The prevalence of home injuries in adult population of ASL CN2 is low (2.53%; 95% CI: 1.51 – 4.20) and increases significantly in the elderly population: the prevalence of falls (which represent one of the possible types of domestic accidents) exceeds 15% among older adults (17.63%; 95% CI: 13.53–22.64). Despite these findings, only a small proportion of the population in ASL CN2 perceive themselves to be at high risk of accidents (<5% among adults and <15% among the elderly). Therefore, addressing home injuries requires a strategy that involves all relevant healthcare services in a cross-cutting manner, through integrated preventive actions and evidence-based interventions.
