Ethics and Publication Malpractice Statement
CODE OF ETHICS AND DECLARATION OF BAD PRACTICES
Sistema Editoria. is a peer-reviewed scientific journal inspired by the code of ethics for publications prepared by the COPE Committee on Publication Ethics: Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors (http://publicationethcis.org), intended for editors as well as peer reviewers and authors.
Everyone involved needs to be aware of the following ethics requirements.
Undertakings by authors
Originality and plagiarism
The author undertakes to present for review a work that is original throughout and to cite all the texts used.
Sistema Editoria is committed to assuring the originality of all works that are published in the issues of the journal. Any texts found to contain any plagiarism will not be published or, if already published, they will be deleted from the relevant issue online. By accepting the terms and conditions of publication indicated in this code of ethics, authors declare that their papers and associated materials are original and do not infringe any copyright legislation. Also, in cases of joint authorship, the authors declare that these conditions are fully accepted by all the authors responsible.
Multiple and/or repeated publications
The author undertakes not to publish in more than one scientific journal any articles that describe the same research. Simultaneously proposing the same manuscript to multiple scientific journals is considered to be an ethically improper, unacceptable practice.
Citing sources
The author must supply correct citations of all sources and contributions mentioned in the work.
Authorship
The author warrants that all persons who have made a significant scientific, intellectual contribution to the concept design, planning and drafting of the paper appear as co-authors, further warranting that all co-authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and its publication Sistema Editoria. If any other persons have participated in a significant way to certain stages of the research, their contribution should be explicitly acknowledged.
Conflict of interest and disclosure
By submitting manuscripts to Sistema Editoria, authors implicitly accept that no conflicts of interest could have influenced the results obtained or the interpretations put forward. Authors must also indicate the sources of any funding for their research and identify the project of which the paper may form part.
Errors in published papers
If authors realise or learn that their papers contain any major errors or inaccuracies, they must immediately inform the journal’s editors, providing all the information necessary in order to enable the corrections to be made to be identified precisely.
Undertakings by peer reviewers
Contribution towards the editorial decision
Peer-reviewing is a procedure that helps editors to make decisions about proposed papers, and it may also help authors to improve the manuscripts that they have submitted for publication. All reviewers undertake to carry out a critical, honest, constructive review.
Meeting deadlines
Any reviewers who find they are unable to fulfil the task proposed or cannot finish their review by the deadline set must inform the editorial team immediately.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts submitted for review are considered to be confidential documents, and reviewers must therefore not discuss them with any third parties without the editorial board’s specific permission.
Objectivity
The peer-review process must be carried out objectively, so ad hominem opinions of authors are inappropriate. Reviewers should explain their opinions adequately, following the model provided by the editorial team, especially if they are going to propose that a given manuscript should be rejected. They should also warn the editorial team if they find that any substantial parts of a manuscript have been published previously or that they are under review for any other publication.
Conflict of interest and disclosure
Any classified information that has been obtained during the course of the review process will be treated as confidential and may not be used for personal purposes; if the review of a manuscript involves any conflict of interest for the reviewer owing to relationships of collaboration or competition with any of its authors or the institution to which they belong, the potential reviewer must decline the proposal to review the manuscript in question.

Decision to publish works
The management and editorial team ensure that only reviewers who are qualified to issue a critical expert opinion of the work are selected. The management and editorial team of Sistema Editoria are responsible for the reviewing process and the final decision as to the publication of the manuscripts submitted, once the opinions of two external reviewers have been obtained and after consulting with the editors of monograph sections.
Non-discrimination
The management and editorial team will examine the papers proposed only in terms of the scientific merit of their content, with no discrimination on the grounds of the race, gender, sexual orientation, religion, ethnic origin, nationality or political opinions of authors.
Confidentiality
The management and editorial team undertake not to disclose any information about manuscripts received to any persons other than the relevant authors, reviewers and monograph editors. They will also ensure that the process is carried out anonymously in order to preserve intellectual integrity. The editorial team has a restricted-access database containing the results of the review processes for the manuscripts that have been accepted for publication and those that have been rejected.
Conflict of interest and transparency
The management and editorial team undertake to refrain from using in their own research the results of any papers received without the author’s express consent. Sistema Editoria ensures that any manuscripts submitted for publication by members of the management and editorial team undergo the same anonymous, objective peer-review procedure.
Acknowledging mistakes
The management and editorial team will publish any corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies, as necessary.
Meeting deadlines
The management and editorial team are responsible for ensuring that the deadlines for reviewing and publishing of all manuscripts accepted are met, in order to assure the swift dissemination of their results.
Quality
The management and editorial team regularly monitor the peer-review process with a view to making any improvements. The journal will permanently end its partnership with any reviewer who, on one or more occasions, misses deadlines or fails to follow the system established for the peer-review process.
Undertakings be monograph-section editors
Contribution towards the editorial decision
The editors of monograph sections will work with the management and editorial team to select reviewers who are qualified to issue a critical expert opinion on the manuscripts received. They will also assist the management and editorial team in their decision-making. Once the opinions of two external reviewers have been received, the monograph editors may indicate to the author any further corrections that need to be made in order to improve the manuscript.
Meeting deadlines
The editors of monograph sections undertake to complete their tasks within the scheduled timeframe.
Confidentiality
The editors of monograph sections undertake not to discuss any manuscripts with third parties at any stage of the process without the editorial team’s express permission.
Objectivity, conflict of interest and disclosure
The editors of monograph sections undertake to perform their tasks upholding the same terms and conditions as those applicable to reviewers in terms of objectivity, conflict of interest and disclosure.
