Approach and scope
Cuadernos AISPI: Estudios de lenguas y literaturas hispánicas (ISSN: 2283-981X paper -) is a scientific journal for an international readership, published by the Associazione Ispanisti Italiani as a forum for papers on the languages, cultures and literature of the Iberian Peninsula and Ibero-America. The aim is to provide a high-level scientific discussion forum where academic researchers can explore the latest trends in international philological, literary, linguistic and translation-related Hispanism.
Cuadernos AISPI publishes original scientific papers (preferably in Spanish) following a favourable report by two anonymous reviewers. Manuscripts can also be accepted in Italian, Catalan, Portuguese and, exceptionally, in other languages. Titles, abstracts and keywords are also published in English to make works easier to locate and streamline their international outreach.
The journal is published twice a year (in July and December), in both digital and hard-copy (paper) formats, with open access. Each issue contains a monograph section, alternating between Language or Translation and Literature or Culture, covering topics of particular interest for the relevant fields, jointly supervised by an Italian editor and AISPI member and another highly reputed editor from abroad. This topic section may include papers, interviews and notes. Each issue also contain a general section and a section for reviews.
Peer-review process
The contributions proposed for the various sections of the journal are assessed by the editorial board or the editors of the monograph section to determine their suitability. The editorial board then informs the authors whether their proposals have been accepted for publication or not.
Once the full manuscripts have been received, they are initially assessed by the editorial board or by the editors of the monograph section, as appropriate, to determine whether they are in line with the journal’s topic areas of interest and meet the minimum requirements in terms of their quality.
The editorial board then sends an anonymised version of each original manuscript to two peer reviewers who are not members of the editorial board. This process takes about three months between the uploading of authors’ submissions to the platform and the reviewers’ initial decision, although it may take longer if the peer reviewers disagree, in which case a third reviewer will be called upon. Based on the reviewers’ reports, authors are informed of the result of the review process and whether their manuscripts have been finally accepted or rejected, giving them precise instructions regarding any changes that need to be made. If these changes are substantial, the revised manuscripts will be reviewed again, until they are finally accepted or rejected.
The management of Cuadernos AISPI wishes to thank all those who have provided blind peer reviews for the journal. All the papers published have previously been reported on by two external reviewers.
A list of the external reviewers who assisted in the preparation of issues 1–19 is available via this link.
Open-access policy
Cuadernos AISPI is published under a Creative Commons licence. The journal provides immediate, open access to all its content and assesses new submissions free of charge and applies no fees for their publication.
The journal encourages authors to deposit their papers with other institutional and topic-based repositories, on the principle that providing society with scientific and academic work with no restrictions helps to enhance the exchange of knowledge.
