vestidoAbstract
This paper studies the birth of specialised discourses from historical lexicography in the 18th century to verify the contribution of the clothing lexicon to languages for special purposes. A comparative analysis of some terms included in the Dictionary of Sciences and Arts by Esteban de Terreros and in the Dictionary of Authorities (although academic repertoires published between 1770 and 1791 are also taken into account) is offered and it is accompanied by data from CORDE to discover the evolution of daily life in the enlightened society.
